Series of trimetallic 20 francs with Mont-Saint-Michel (1992-2001)

The coin's story

This 20 francs coin is trimetallic: a centre and an outer ring in nickel-aluminium-bronze, separated by a nickel ring. It depicts Mont-Saint-Michel reflected in the sea, designed by Jean-Luc Maréchal and engraved by Jean-Pierre Réthoré. The other side, the work of the engraving workshop of the Paris Mint, places the value between broad bands. The type was struck from 1992 to 2001. Numista notes for 1992 varieties of the letter V, open or closed, and of the reeded edge. The 1992 date, the first, has 59,966,063 pieces for circulation.
