Zinc 10 centimes by Lindauer (1941)

The coin's story

This zinc 10 centimes coin, pierced with a central hole, takes up in 1941 Edmond-Émile Lindauer's republican type, with the RF monogram, although the Vichy regime was already in place. Zinc replaced cupronickel, which had become too precious in wartime. The type was struck only in 1941, before being replaced by the ÉTAT FRANÇAIS 10 centimes, also in zinc. According to Numista, there are varieties, with a line under MES and a dot on either side of the date or only after it. The date has 235,875,200 pieces. The coin ceased to be legal tender on 20 March 1947.
