Emergency coin of the Loiret committees (1922)

The coin's story

This aluminium 10 centimes coin is an emergency coin issued in 1922, like many emergency coins of that period. It was put into circulation by the committees of Chécy, Châteauneuf, Sully and Vitry, in the Loiret. It was struck by the Thévenon firm in Paris, which signs the reverse. One side shows a cockerel above the name of the department, the other, the value within a plant motif. Numista distinguishes two varieties, with or without a letter A to the right of the cockerel.
