Series of bronze 1 centime with Ceres (1872-1897)

The coin's story

This bronze 1 centime coin belongs to the series with the head of Ceres of the Third Republic, engraved by Eugène-André Oudiné. The obverse shows a laureate head of the Republic within a beaded circle, the date between stars, the reverse, the value and the mint letter, A for Paris. The type was struck from 1872 to 1897, in Paris and Bordeaux (K). The 1896 date, one of the last, has 3,000,000 pieces. The coin ceased to be legal tender on 24 November 1940.
