Emergency coin of the Latin Union, South-West Committee (1922)
This aluminium 10 centimes coin is an emergency coin issued in the early 1920s, like many emergency coins of that period. It bears the name of the Latin Union, South-West Committee, and that of the Regional Committee of Toulouse, in Haute-Garonne. According to Numista, these coins circulated in eighteen departments of Aquitaine, Midi-Pyrénées and Languedoc-Roussillon. The letters B.P. mean “bon pour” (good for) 10 centimes, and the dates 1922 and 1930 are those of issue and redemption. The obverse shows a lateen sailing ship in front of the sun and an ancient round temple. The coin ceased to be legal tender on 6 June 1931.
Actual size compared with the 2 € and 1 € coins. Thickness: 1.3 mm.
