Series of 20 centimes with Lagriffoul's Marianne (1962-2001)
This 20 centimes coin in nickel-aluminium-bronze, 92% copper, 6% aluminium and 2% nickel, belongs to the series of small denominations of the new franc, struck from 1962 to 2001. The profile of Marianne facing the wind is the work of the sculptor Henri Lagriffoul, and the reverse, where the value is framed by an ear of wheat and an olive branch, that of Adrien Dieudonné. Around the date are the cornucopia of the Paris Mint and the mark of the engraver general. In 1970, it is the owl of Raymond Joly, engraver general from 1958 to 1974. The coin ceased to be legal tender on 17 February 2002, after the changeover to the euro.
Actual size compared with the 2 € and 1 € coins. Thickness: 1.4 mm.
