Aluminium 50 Reichspfennig of 1935

The coin's story

This aluminium 50 Reichspfennig coin was struck under the Third Reich, in the system of the Reichsmark, backed by gold and introduced on 30 August 1924 after hyperinflation. It was struck in aluminium, whereas the circulating 50 Reichspfennig of the time was in nickel. One side shows the displayed eagle surrounded by DEUTSCHES REICH and the date, the other, the value and the mint letter between oak leaves. Both sides were designed by Franz Paul Krischker. This type was struck only in 1935. The date has 19,688,000 pieces in Munich.
