Series of 1 Reichspfennig with the sheaf of wheat (1923-1936)

The coin's story

This bronze 1 Reichspfennig coin belongs to the stable coinage of the Weimar Republic. After hyperinflation, the Rentenmark was introduced on 15 November 1923, at a rate of one trillion paper marks to one Rentenmark, then the gold-backed Reichsmark replaced it on 30 August 1924. Reinhard Kullrich's design, already used for the Rentenpfennig coins, shows the value surrounded by DEUTSCHES REICH on one side, and a sheaf of wheat dividing the figures of the date on the other. The type was struck until 1936. The 1925 date has 5,673,000 pieces in Stuttgart.
