The coin's story

This copper token is not a coin: it was struck in 1971 for the 500th anniversary of the birth of Albrecht Dürer, the great painter and engraver of the German Renaissance, born in Nuremberg in 1471 and died in 1528. One side shows Dürer's bust facing left, the other, his famous AD monogram, with the date 1971. Numista classes it among commemorative medals of personalities.
