Series of aluminium-bronze 10 Reichspfennig (1924-1936)

The coin's story

This aluminium-bronze 10 Reichspfennig coin belongs to the stable coinage of the Weimar Republic. After hyperinflation, the Rentenmark was introduced on 15 November 1923, at a rate of one trillion paper marks to one Rentenmark, then the gold-backed Reichsmark replaced it on 30 August 1924. The sculptor Waldemar Raemisch designed both sides: six ears of wheat with crossed stalks, and the value within a lozenge between oak leaves. The type was struck from 1924 to 1936 at the six mints of the Reich. The 1935 date has 35,889,733 pieces in Berlin. It was therefore struck under the Third Reich, with the Weimar design unchanged.
