This cupronickel 5 escudos coin is part of the series issued by Portugal for the 1982 Rink Hockey (roller hockey) World Championship. The tournament opened on 1 May 1982 in Barcelos. On 16 May, the Portuguese team won its twelfth world title there, eight years after the previous one. The series has four denominations, of 1, 2.50, 5 and 25 escudos, each with a different move from the game. Here, a player rushes into the attack. The reverses are the work of Dorita Castel-Branco, who signs them with her first name. The coin was struck in Lisbon in 1,990,000 pieces.
