Wilhelmina, Queen of the Netherlands from 1890 to 1948, came to the throne at the age of ten on the death of her father William III, under the regency of her mother Emma until 1898. The portrait was designed by Johannes Cornelis Wienecke, chief engraver of the Utrecht Mint.
