Series of 10 cents of Wilhelmina (1926-1945)
This 10 cents coin in 640 thousandths silver belongs to the last series in the name of Queen Wilhelmina, struck from 1926 to 1945, in which she appears with her hair gathered up. Wilhelmina, Queen of the Netherlands from 1890 to 1948, came to the throne at the age of ten on the death of her father William III, under the regency of her mother Emma until 1898. The reverse shows the value and the date within a wreath of oak leaves. During the Second World War, from 1941 to 1945, the Dutch government in exile also had this type struck in the United States, at Philadelphia (P), Denver (D) and San Francisco (S). The 1939 date was struck in 20,000,000 pieces at the Utrecht Mint, under the mintmaster W.J. van Heteren.
Actual size compared with the 2 € and 1 € coins. Thickness: 1 mm.
