The coin's story

This 10 øre coin in cupronickel, 75% copper and 25% nickel, belongs to the 1974 series of Olav V. Olav V, son of Haakon VII, reigned from 1957 to 1991. The bee of the previous series gave way to the crowned royal monogram, accompanied by the date. The letters AB are the initials of Arne Jon Bakken, mintmaster from 1961 to 1980, and ØH those of the engraver Øivind Hansen. The type was struck from 1974 to 1991. The 1978 date has 37,360,000 pieces. The coin ceased to be legal tender on 1 March 1993.
