ITEngraved by Ivar Throndsen
1 øre of Haakon VII (1906-1907)
This bronze 1 øre coin is one of the first coins of Haakon VII. Haakon VII was elected king by the Storting on 18 November 1905, after the separation from Sweden, and reigned until his death on 21 September 1957. It still keeps the design of the coins of Oscar II: the crowned shield with the Norwegian lion, here between the letters H VII, and the value within a wreath. The type, engraved by Ivar Throndsen, was struck only in 1906 and 1907. The 1906 date has 3,000,000 pieces.
Actual size compared with the 2 € and 1 € coins. Thickness: 1.3 mm.
