Circulating coin

Small-module bronze circulating coin, part of the second series of Victoria pennies, known as the “Bun Head”.

The coin's story

This penny belongs to the late issues of the “Bun Head” type. Part of the bronze series introduced in 1860, replacing the old heavy copper pennies. There is a silver Maundy penny for this year (much smaller), as well as a rare variety with an overdate (3 over 2).
