One observes a cross formed of four royal monograms 'H7', each surmounted by a small crown, surrounding the central hole. The peripheral inscription 'ALT FOR NORGE' (All for Norway) is present all around.
This Norwegian 50-øre coin from 1948 was struck under the reign of King Haakon VII. It belongs to the post-World War II reconstruction period, during which Norway reaffirmed its sovereignty and consolidated its political orientation towards the West, notably joining NATO in 1949. The royalist symbols (crown and monogram) recall the country's loyalty to its king and the resistance during the Nazi occupation. The triangular knot evokes the traditional Scandinavian cultural heritage.
