This 10 pesos coin in 900 thousandths silver brings together two anniversaries: 150 years since the start of the War of Independence in 1810, and 50 years since the revolution of 1910. The priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla launched the War of Independence on 16 September 1810 in Dolores, with the famous “Cry of Dolores”, captured in 1811, he was tried and shot at the end of July of the same year. Francisco I. Madero launched the uprising against the regime of Porfirio Díaz on 20 November 1910, in the name of free elections, he was overthrown in February 1913 by Victoriano Huerta. The reverse shows the busts of Hidalgo and Madero side by side, with Madero's motto SUFRAGIO EFECTIVO NO REELECCION (Effective suffrage, no re-election). Both sides are the work of Manuel Luna Negrete. The coin was struck at the Mexico City Mint in 1,000,000 pieces.
