Aluminium play money of the SIGG company (1944-1979)
This small 2 francs coin is not official money but play money, in aluminium, made by the SIGG company of Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Specialising in aluminium processing, SIGG produced these coins for children's games, according to Numista, they accompanied play tea sets produced in 1947. They closely imitate real Swiss coins: Helvetia standing, leaning on the shield with the Swiss cross, and the value within a wreath of oak and gentian. The series was made from 1944 to 1979. The signature AG SIGG appears below Helvetia.
Actual size compared with the 2 € and 1 € coins. Thickness: 1.1 mm.
