This coin of 20 cents zinc was struck under the regime of the French State (Vichy) during the Second World War, due to the scarcity of precious metals. It has a hole in its center. There are two main variants for 1941: one with the face value inscribed in digits ('20'), and another with the value in letters ('VINGT'), the latter being more rare and sought after.
The obverse is marked 'ETAT FRANÇAIS' over a central hole. Four ears of wheat are arranged across the hole.
The reverse shows the names 'VINGT' and 'CENTIMES' above and below the central hole and the year '1941', all surrounded by oak branches.
Actual size compared with the 2 € and 1 € coins. Thickness: 1.5 mm.
